Empowering democratic women since 1924

In 1923, Ada Conklin, Virginia Southgate, Lura Baker Rothier, Mildred Hartke, and Dorothy Kohlbrand established the Covington Women’s Democratic Club. The success of the club prompted the women to move to expand the organization into every precinct in Kenton County.

The Covington Women’s Democratic Club was granted a charter by the Hamilton County Democratic Woman’s Club on February 22, 1924, and officially became known as the Kenton County Democratic Woman’s Club.

On March 7, 1924, the Kenton County Democratic Woman’s Club held its first meeting at the Community Hall on Sixth Street and Madison Avenue in Covington.

March 9, 1924, members met to elect club officers. A resolution was passed to meet on the fourth Friday of every month and elections for club officers were held every year.

Today's members of Kenton County Democratic Woman's Club are working on a fuller account of our history. More details to come as we discover more and build a timeline.

- Shape the future of our communities through political activity.

- Advocate for state and local issues that are important to women and families.

- Educate and inform our communities about critical issues.

- Encourage active participation in government through education.

- Encourage women to seek public office.

- Provide support to Democratic candidates seeking elected office.
